Recovery from Encephalitis
December 23rd, 2008
For most of October and November, my son was at the Children’s National Medical Center and the National Center for Children’s Rehabilitation in Washington, DC. One day, all of a sudden, he was hit by seizures, followed by weeks of treatment and investigation. It turns out that the cause was likely a simple virus like the cold or flu that went to his brain, a common thing that went to an uncommon place. One day, I hope to tell more of what happened. For now, here are some of the pictures that show part of his journey toward recovery.

The fall was obviously brutally difficult. The winter went well, with a return to school! The spring begins with ongoing recovery, school success, and even a return to lacrosse. Today, getting ready for Easter Mass!
Whew. That was a close one. You’ve been blessed with this fine young man and his recovery. Happy Easter to you all.
