Flickr Video Embedded on a Site

April 26th, 2008

Flickr now includes video, and here is an example of using the embed code to embed one on a site. This is Cali Lewis’s first Flickr video. The suggested width was 400, but I had a choice of making it “original,” which was 500 pixels wide:

Looking at the parameters, it allows full screen.

Robb Report May 2008

April 21st, 2008

I am in my fourth year of subscribing to the Robb Report, and some things about this May 2008 issue makes it my favorite so far. First there is the quality of the cover, which pictures the 2009 Bentley Mega-Coupe: the Brooklands.

The cover is at once slick and thick. Open it up and the magazine simply smells good, like a serial publication is supposed to smell. The same is true, maybe even more so, for the bundled Robb Report Collection. The smell reminds me of when I bought Corel Draw near its beginning; the book that shows the clip-art smelled like that, it smelled like I was getting value in return for what I paid. The quality of the photography, even the advertisements; the pleasure of the typography, the gloss of the pages, and the smell of the magazine - these make the Robb Report worth receiving, somehow more this month than before.

Twitter and WordPress

April 20th, 2008

I have been trying to pick the best spot in my WordPress blog to add my Twitter updates.  I tried the sidebar, but it spread it open too wide.  I tried the header, but it put the updates on too many pages.  Even set to one or two items, it was too much to put everywhere.  Then I made a new page with the code.  That seems to work well, but I will still try to find a place on the main page only.
